About us

Our mission

Our mission is to empower the Johns Hopkins entrepreneurial ecosystem through investing in startups led by Hopkins alumni and affiliates. In addition to investments, we introduce founders to our rich network of LPs and professional advisors, who often help with further raising.

By cultivating this network of founders and leaders, we offer a direct avenue for the JHU student body to get exposed to the startup world. Many Hopkins students have interned at our portfolio companies, which fills a niche for both students and companies.

Through each of these pursuits, we hope to make Johns Hopkins stand out as a school that doesn't just produce some of the brightest scientists and engineers in the world, but also some of the greatest founders and business leaders.

A-Level's story

2015

A-Level Capital, LLC is founded by Elizabeth Galbut and Demi Obayomi while they are students at Johns Hopkins University. They raise $500K for the inaugural fund, with their sights set on better supporting the brilliant entrepreneurial minds at the school whose ideas are going unfunded.

2019

A-Level reaches 30 investments, marking a significant milestone in the firm's short history. It is proud to back companies spanning industries from health-tech to sports.

2021

The final investment out of the inaugural fund is made, paving the way for A-Level's Fund 2. This time around, the firm has raised more than quadruple the size of the first fund, allowing the student team to make even more transformational investments.
