Alex is Head of Business Development and Partnerships at Elemental Machines, a start-up taking an Internet of Things approach to clinical and scientific research. He is a passionate entrepreneur who helped build a restaurant franchise start-up in South America after graduating from Harvard. When he returned to the US, he shifted his focus to the health sector. Alex has experience building mHealth solutions that use passive data collection from smartphones and wearable sensors to objectively quantify neurodegenerative disorders and manage symptoms to improve care. Furthermore, he has worked in the biotech/life science industry in both a business development and new product planning capacity. His passion lies broadly at the intersection of technology and health where he continues to start, advise and invest in digital health start-ups. Alex completed his bachelor’s degree in Human Evolutionary Biology at Harvard. He is also earned a dual masters degree in public health and business administration (MPH/MBA) from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and Carey Business School with a certificate in Public Health Informatics.
